Der Kerameikos ist ein Stadtteil von Athen und liegt nordwestlich der Akropolis. Der bereits antike Name des Demos leitet sich von den Töpferwerkstätten in der Antike ab . Bekannt ist der Kerameikos vor allem durch die gleichnamige Ausgrabungsstätte.
Im Kerameikos liegt der bedeutendste antike Friedhof in Athen. Dieses Viertel war das wichtigste Zentrum der attischen Keramikproduktion. Der Kerameikos wird seit 1913 durch Ausgrabungen der Abteilung Athen des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts erforscht ; Franz Willemsen ; Ursula Knigge ; Jutta Stroszeck ).
