Dieser Gebirgspass führt Sie über einen recht kurios gelegenen Wasserscheide. Sie erwarten diese Wasserscheide ungefähr in der Mitte der Halbinsel. Aber hier ist sie bis zur Nordostküste geklebt. Ein Regentropfen, der hier nur ein paar hundert Meter von der Küste fällt, fließt auf der Südwestseite dieses Passes mehr als 50 km auf die andere Seite der Argolischen Halbinsel. Das hat alles mit den tektonischen Kräften zu tun, die auf die Halbinsel wirken und sie wie einen schräg geneigten Block nach Südwesten ausrichten. Hier sieht man, dass die Nordostküste einen steilen Hang bildet, wo die Berge ins Meer stürzen.
