Zur ungarischen griechisch-katholischen Kirche gehörten ursprünglich ruthenische und rumänische Muttersprachler, die vermutlich magyarisiert worden waren. Da ihre Liturgiesprache Kirchenslawisch war, galten sie als Zugehörige zur Ruthenischen Kirche.
