Es ist eines der ältesten Tore der Stadt. Das Datum des ersten Baus ist nicht bekannt, die erste Erwähnung stammt aus dem Jahr 1310.
Ein elegantes Beispiel eines Säulentors, das 1782 als Ersatz für das ältere Tor erbaut wurde . Der Name leitet sich von der Straße ab, die von hier abzweigte und durch die nördliche Landschaft nach Carini führte.
Das Erscheinungsbild des Tores aus dem 18. Jahrhundert folgte der damaligen Mode: Es besteht aus zwei mit rustikalen Pilastern verzierten Säulen, die von einem Gesims überragt und oben von Steinvasen verschlossen werden.
