Die Kirche wurde in den frühen Jahren des 17. Jahrhunderts im Auftrag der Jerusalemer Ritter, auch bekannt als die Gesellschaft der Zehntausend Märtyrer, erbaut .
Der heutige Baukörper weist eine schlichte Fassade auf und die dekorativen Motive erinnern an die Themen Märtyrertum, wie Palmen und Lorbeer. In der Mitte des Bauwerks befindet sich ein Stuckmedaillon , das den Heiligen Acacius und seine 9.000 Soldaten zeigt, die zusammen mit weiteren 1.000 Heiden vom römischen Kaiser gefoltert wurden, weil ihre Konvertierung zum Christentum als Verrat galt.
