Ohrid ist mit etwa 39.000 Einwohnern die achtgrößte Stadt Nordmazedoniens. Sie ist Verwaltungssitz einer Großgemeinde und liegt im Südwesten des Landes am Ohridsee, unweit der albanischen Grenze.
Ohrid bildet ein regionales wirtschaftliches, kulturelles und religiöses Zentrum und ist der größte Ort am Ohridsee. Nahe der Stadt befindet sich der Flughafen Ohrid, einer der zwei internationalen Flughäfen Nordmazedoniens.
