Oostrum ist das größte Kirchdorf der Gemeinde Venray mit 2.420 Einwohnern. Das Dorf wird als ein Wachstumskern angesehen. Der Bahnhof Venray liegt in Oostrum. Oostrum hat eine schriftliche Geschichte, die bis ins Jahr 1200 zurückreicht, als der Name Oostrum zum ersten Mal in schriftlichen Dokumenten erwähnt wurde.
