Es liegt im Südwesten von Koudum, im Osten von Warns, im Nordosten von Bakhuizen und im Westen von Kolderwolde. Der Dorfkern liegt an einem Aufstieg des Sees Morra, in der sanften Landschaft von Gaasterland. Im Jahr 2021 hatte das Dorf 605 Einwohner. Zu dem Dorf gehört auch der Weiler Nijeburen, mit dem es auch etwas verwachsen ist.
