Der Cibin ist ein 82 Kilometer langer, rechter Nebenfluss des Alt in Siebenbürgen. Einer von mehreren Theorien zufolge leitet sich der deutsche Name des Landes "Siebenbürgen" von der ungarischen Bezeichnung des Zibins – "Szeben" – ab.Sein Quellgebiet ist das Zibinsgebirge in den rumänischen Südkarpaten. Er hat zwei Quellflüsse, den Râul Mare und den Râul Mic . Nach der Vereinigung dieser beiden Quellflüsse durchfließt der Cibin den Stausee Gura Râului. Bei Talmesch mündet er in den Olt.
