Die Charlestown High Bridge überspannte den Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts, und war Teil der I-93/US 1 am nördlichen Ende des Central Artery.
Diese zweistöckige Fachwerkbrücke, die 1954 erbaut wurde, sollte ursprünglich die I-95 durch Boston von Südwesten nach Nordosten in Tandem mit der Tobin Bridge, die 1950 erbaut wurde, führen. Das I-95-Projekt und mehrere andere Straßenbauprojekte in und um Boston, einschließlich des stark umstrittenen Inner Belt und des Southwest Corridor, die das Recht auf Weg abschließen sollten, um die I-95 von Providence, RI, nach Boston zu bringen, wurden aufgrund starker öffentlicher Opposition in den frühen 1970er Jahren abgesagt. Die I-93 durfte 1969 von der Yankee Division Highway bis zum Fuß der Charlestown High Bridge fertiggestellt werden, und die Bezeichnung I-93 wurde in den frühen 1970er Jahren auf die Brücke und den Central Artery ausgeweitet.
