Pertisau - Gaisalm - Achenkirch

This pretty walk along the western shore of Lake Achensee leads from Pertisau to the Gaisalm – a hut which can only be reached on foot or by boat – and then on to Achenkirch a the northern end of the lake. Along the way there are plenty of quiet bays where hikers can hop into the water to cool off on hot days. The journey back is made using the boat leaving from the "Scholastika" departure point. Hikers who want a shorter adventure can conclude the walk at the Gaisalm hut and take the boat from there to Achenkirch or Pertisau.
From the "Achenseeschiffahrt" car park in Pertisau (next to the Strandbad Pertisau) the route leads along a wide trail and then a narrower one cut into the rock towards the Gaisalm hut. From there, the trail leads through rocky terrain to the neighbouring village of Achenkirch. The northern shore of the lake is not accessible on foot, but it is possible via a small detour to reach the "Scholastika" embarkment point, where hikers take the boat back to Pertisau. Boats operated daily according to a fixed timetable between May and October. Hikers require a good head for heights and sure footing for this walk.
