A nice and fairly easy walk from Sportgastein over the Nieder Tauern pass to Mallnitz. Go by bus from Bad Hofgastein or Gastein to Sportgastein to start the walk. Return by train from Mallnitz to Bockstein (through the Tauern tunnel). Walk from Bockstein railway station to the town and return from there by bus to Gastein or Bad Hofgastein. Check carefully the timetables of busses and train prior to the walk. The walk itself takes some 5 hours.
