This building was established in 1900 by the Brussels philanthropic association 'Les Marçunvins', from which it derived its original name. This association was founded in 1875 and provided financial support to young students. Later, they also organized holiday colonies for underprivileged children. The location in Westende was therefore ideally situated due to the healthy sea air.
During World War I, this building was flattened. However, it was rebuilt in 1930 and subsequently enlarged.
It is a beautiful example of modernist architecture: the building is only two stories high, has a flat roof, and is completely painted white. Rounded and sharp corners playfully alternate.
