The hop field was built in 2010 on the initiative of Joris Vanderveken, Edwin Fabri and Willy Marivoet, in a collaboration between the municipality of Asse and the province of Flemish Brabant.
It is located on a site where hops were grown decades ago.
Between the hopper anques is the artwork of Peter Schoutsen, which makes the site recognized as a landscape element.
The harvest from this hop field is used, among other things, to decorate floats in the hopduvel procession during the hopduvel festivals in Asse.
