Currently referred to as "Castle de Bueren," also known as "Castle of Kwatrecht," it was formerly called "Good Ter Elst." The earliest mention of "Good Ter Elst" is in a lease contract from 1408. In 1571, it was described as "a house castle." Depicted by A. Sanderus as "'tHuys van den advot vender Burght op Quaadregt in 't land van Aalst.” In 1748, it was purchased by François J.B. Baut, who also acquired the adjacent "Hof ter Camere" in 1759. At the end of the 18th century, it was sold to Count Christoffel de Bueren, an Austrian regimental colonel after whom the castle is named. It is still owned by a direct descendant, namely Anne-Marie Behaghel de Bueren, Countess d'Ansembourg. The largely moated castle estate of about 10 hectares borders to the southwest with the Vuntbeek and the moated castle of the former lordship "Te Chambre." From the northeast, the castle avenue departs from the Brussels road, running parallel to the beginning of Kalverhagestraat and currently intersected by the Ghent-Brussels railway line.
