Woods, heath, and fields on poor sandy soils.

Between Zandhoven and Herentals there are poor sandy soils. Fortunately, that doesn't mean there isn't a wonderful nature to be found.

On this hike, you will walk 82% on unpaved paths through deciduous and coniferous forests, pass through a heath landscape and the catchment areas of Molenbeek, Aa, and Kleine Nete, as well as the nature reserve Lovenhoek.

The route follows GR paths, junctions, and local walking trails, but also occasionally on unmarked paths. Using a GPS is recommended.

With public transport at the start and end, it is possible to place a camper along the way or to overnight in other accommodations.

Attention: Because we have chosen to use mainly unpaved roads, we pass by few to no drinking and eating establishments on this journey.

During longer wet periods, it may happen that now and then a path can be underwater.
