This longer red route allows you to explore the broad surroundings of Herkenrode, where agriculture is still practiced today. Walk between the fields, discover the Bammerik forest, and enjoy the tranquility along the Albert Canal. Through an idyllic little forest, you will reach the Demer, with a distant view of Herkenrode. Pass the small village of Stokrooie and walk between the fields and ponds back to Herkenrode. Feel free to combine this route with a walk over the abbey site for some extra heritage experience.
