Rummen. A sweet saint, an abandoned tram route, and a little fart of 24 stuivers.

This walk explores a piece of the municipality of Rummen and is based on the existing walk along the old tram line. We have made some slight modifications to it here, shortening it and especially ensuring the description of points of interest. And apparently, there is quite a bit to see in this small part of Geetbets.

The circuit runs over well-maintained roads and paths. In fact, you can do this walk in all seasons. Spring is nice because the flowers are blooming, but in summer and autumn, you walk past wheat, corn, and meadows. Because linear development is never far away in this region, you pass by inhabited areas, but you will be surprised by how much you can still enjoy the open views over the fields and orchards.

It is best to park your vehicle in the spacious parking lot at Ketelstraat 51A, opposite the old town hall and next to a primary school.

There are a few small shops in the area of the 'night shop' type, but during the day. There is a fry shop and a café, the local pigeon club.

At the parking lot, you will find a small, safe playground.

Tip: not far from the center lies the Warande forest where the castle of Rummen once stood. This site is worth a visit, and I would certainly recommend it when you take this walk. At the parking lot, there is already an information board, and you look out over the wooded castle ruins. On the site itself, there are several information boards that give you a good idea of the castle, the vegetation, and the famous battle where the last count of Loon was defeated by the prince-bishop of Liège.
