It leaves at the foot of the Berendries and runs along the steep eastern slope of the Zwalm Valley. The Boterhoek, a hamlet of Sint-Maria-Oudenhove, has many forests with beautiful spring blossoms. About halfway, the route passes by the Boembekemolen, a protected monument and visitor center of Natuurpunt. The return route goes over the Mijnwerkerspad, an old railway track.
