Korbeek-Dijle-Huldenberg Hiking Route 22-5 km

We hike over bumpy paths, enjoying expansive views from peaks like Weeberg, the chapel of Leefdaal, the plateau of Duisburg, and Margijsbos. We descend along the winding valleys of the IJse and Dijle, showcasing their great diversity of plants and insects. Particularly noticeable are the traces of the mammal beaver, the largest known rodent in Western Europe. They leave their marks in the landscape through the gnawed trees along the Dijle. This is especially evident in autumn, as the winter supply of green branches is prepared as winter storage. They keep them fresh, underwater, near their burrow.

The hiking trails are predominantly (17 km) unpaved.

Route description: Hiking junctions 

From the parking lot, we follow the Nijvelsebaan to the right and the second street on the left, Kosterberg downhill to the church of Korbeek-Dijle. We follow the Korbeekse Church street to the right around the Bleijenberghoeve until we reach Nijvelsebaan. At this intersection, we find the first hiking junction kp 516 and continue to kp 517 - 518 – 51 – 508 – 509 – 206 - 205 – 204 – 203 – 23 – straight ahead O.L.Vrouwweg and Limburg Stirumlaan, past the St. Rochus Chapel and on the right before St. Rochusstraat, we take the entrance to the play forest. There we find space, two tables and three benches for our picnic.After that, we descend St. Rochusstraat, cross Borremansstraat and reach the GR-Dijleland via the entrance of the municipal authorities at IJse, which we follow from junction 28. (There are also some benches nearby.) – 27 - 26 – 25 – 223 – 219 – 220 – 215 – 214 – 213 - 212 - 102 – 211 - 513 – 514 – 515 – Towards - 519 to the first street on the left, again the first left and then the first right, Korbeekse Church street. We follow until we reach Nijvelsebaan and to the right until the parking lot.
