City trail along slow paths from Hoboken to Ekeren.

In collaboration with the city of Antwerp and the regional landscape de Voorkempen, Trage Wegen Antwerpen has designed a walking route that is associated with an unparalleled experience. The outskirts of the city are perfectly suited for this. We walk along green slopes, large parks, but also through small alleys, cozy squares, and discover some hidden gems that you wouldn’t immediately expect to find in the city. We pass through the various districts on the edge (Hoboken, Wilrijk, Berchem, Borgerhout, Deurne, Merksem, and Ekeren).

The entire hike is 40 kilometers long and is absolutely recommended for everyone who regularly hikes.

Are you curious but not sure if you can hike the entire distance? No problem. The advantage of this city hike is that it regularly passes public transport stops and bike-sharing stations. You can therefore decide for yourself where and how long you want to hike.

We start in the morning in Hoboken (Ferry dock) at 09:00 and end in Ekeren (P+R Luchtbal) around 18:00. Detailed information about stops and combinations with public transport can be found further down. Those starting from the city center can take the water bus line at Steenplein to Kruibeke at 08:00 and then the ferry to Hoboken. In Ekeren, tram 6 will take us back to the city center.


Healthy snacks and water will be provided along the way. You will need to bring your own lunch package.
