Bannerman Park is a Victorian-style urban park located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The park was officially opened in 1891. Sir Alexander Bannerman, Governor of the Colony of Newfoundland from 1857 to 1864, donated the land to create the park.
Today, the park is surrounded by historic buildings and Victorian bed and breakfasts. It contains a public swimming pool, playground, a baseball diamond and many large open grassy areas. A revitalization plan for the park was launched in 2010. This plan includes an outdoor skating rink, a new playground, upgrades to the pool area and a new entrance. The plan is expected to be completed in 2014 for the 150th anniversary of the park.
