Thayngen is a village and a municipality in the canton of Schaffhausen in Switzerland. On 1 January 2009 Altdorf, Bibern, Hofen, Opfertshofen merged into Thayngen.
Thayngen has an area, as of 2006, of 11.9 km2 . Of this area, 52.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 28.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 17.1% is settled and the remainder is non-productive .
