At the northeastern exit of the village, there was a medieval castle site, the area of which is now protected as an archaeological monument.
The Bavarian land register shows Kranzegg in the 1810s with 31 hearth sites around the chapel of St. Maria. The agricultural areas are significantly fragmented due to inheritance.
Only a barn from the early 19th century and the Marian chapel in situ have been preserved as historical structures and are protected as cultural monuments. See also the list of historical monuments in Kranzegg.
