The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Mary and Bartholomew is located in Harsefeld, a town in the district of Stade in Lower Saxony. The parish belongs to the church district of Buxtehude in the district of Stade of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover.
A castle and a church were built in 969 by Heinrich von Stade. A collegiate monastery was founded in place of the castle, which was later converted into a Benedictine monastery. The Harsefeld monastery was abolished in 1647. The Church of St. Mary and Bartholomew is the former monastery church, which was built in the middle of the 14th century from bricks. For the medieval choir, a foundation stone was laid before 1445.
