Short description

Along the Aller

Description

The Aller Cycle Path is a connection between the Weser and Elbe rivers as well as the Harz mountains, which is completed by the connection from Seggerde (Bördekreis) to the Aller-Elbe Cycle Path and from Eggenstedt to the Aller-Harz Cycle Path to the Harz Foreland Cycle Path. It takes us about 60 km through the district of Börde in Saxony-Anhalt and then through Lower Saxony.

In Gifhorn, the Aller Cycle Path intersects the Weser-Harz-Heide Long-Distance Cycle Route. Further connection options in the north are provided by the Lüneburg Heath Cycle Path, the Leine Cycle Route at Schwarmstedt, and the Weser Cycle Path in Verden.

Route description

The starting point of this leisurely bike tour is the tranquil Eggenstedt, where the river Aller has its origin, just like this section of the route. The route then continues to Eilsleben, Ummendorf, Wefensleben, Marienborn, Beendorf, Schwanefeld, Walbeck, Weferlingen, Saalsdorf, Gehrendorf, Oebisfelde, and finally Grafhorst.

The Aller Cycle Path leads through diverse landscapes and opens up a number of historical sights, including the Ummendorf Börde Museum, the Marienborn Memorial to the German Division, and some buildings on the Romanesque Road in Saxony-Anhalt.
