The nature park Dümmer covers an area of around 1,120 km2, its moors and moraines were shaped by the ice ages. The renatured moors are of special importance for nature conservation. Throughout the year, the Dümmerniederung attracts numerous birdwatchers from home and abroad. The Dümmer-Moor-Tour leads to two nature reserves that are particularly well developed for visitors: the Oppenweher Moor and the Ochsenmoor. In between, there are old farms and modern agricultural businesses worth seeing. The contrast, as well as the interaction between reclaimed natural areas and agriculture, is visible here.
