The Schleifstein loop is just under 13 km long. It starts at the hiking parking lot opposite Wendelinushof St. Wendel and is named after the 440 m high grinding stone around which it leads.
The circular route takes hikers along the Bosenberg to the Leitersweiler beeches. These 250 to 300-year-old giant trees are a very special kind of natural monument. From here, the trail descends into the Ostertal valley to Niederkirchen, from where it follows the Oster river for a while before returning to the starting point through Werschweiler.</p
