We did this beautiful nature walk on April 25, 2024

The South Eifel Nature Park starts this hike in Obersgegen. It was a bit difficult to find a parking space. So we parked the car just before the Luxembourg-German border in a parking lane along the N17. Once there, you immediately have a beautiful view of Vianden and the Our Valley.

The loop is marked in two directions, we decided to go counterclockwise. That was a good choice. The largest paved section is first underfoot. Normally these paths are very well marked, but a few markings were missing. It’s best to bring a GPS track and/or a map.

Both nature and culture are not neglected on this hike. The sound of water and birdsong accompany you at the beginning of your hike through the beautiful meadow landscape of the Gaybach Valley.

A large part of the route is characterized by the Kammerwald. Here, it goes steeply downhill and uphill for a short time, sometimes on narrow paths, sometimes on wide forest roads.

After many impressions of nature, you will encounter the architectural highlights of this hike, right at the border with Luxembourg, the Johanniter Church in the municipality of Roth an der Our and the impressive Roth Castle, a former knight's commandery that is privately owned.

From here, field and meadow paths with gentle ascents and descents characterize your hike until you return to Körperich.

There are also options to refresh yourself, for example at the restaurant "Im Goldenen Grund" or at "Genusswerk".
