The route takes you through the western part of the Eifel along the border with Luxembourg and Belgium (around the tri-border point). This part of the Eifel is also called Islek (and the Luxembourgish part is called Ösling).
The first part of this route has gradients around the Alfbach and the Ourdal, with gradients typically not exceeding 10%. The second part of the route (after Dahnen) rises sharply with gradients of up to 16% to Irsendal, to Enzdal, and into Prümdal.
The route runs approximately 12 km on paved bike paths along former railway beds through Prümtal and Alfbachtal. Additionally, the path passes through the picturesque town of Neuerburg in Enzdal, through Irsendal, and through Ourdal. In general, there is very little traffic on the roads in this area.
