Miraconcha is a luxury residential neighborhood in the city of San Sebastián located facing La Concha bay. It emerged alongside the construction of the Miramar Palace by the Spanish Royal Family. In this neighborhood, summer residences were established by figures such as José Canalejas, President of the Government between 1910 and 1912, whose residence is still preserved at number 24. In the 70s and 80s, several buildings turned into pubs and nightclubs and were the entertainment center of Donostia nights for years. Among the most famous establishments were the pubs Master, Valentino, Wali-Jai, Cristal, Orient Expres... During this time, the name "Cuesta del culo" emerged to designate the section of the promenade where these hospitality establishments were concentrated. Although most of the entertainment venues have closed, that stretch is still popularly referred to by that name.
