Eke is a municipality in the French Nord department in the French Westhoek. The municipality is located in French Flanders in the Houtland region. It borders the municipalities of Steenvoorde, Godewaarsvelde, Vleteren, Kaaster, Hondegem, Sint-Silvesterkapel, and Terdegem.
The village is said to have been founded by Saint Wulmaar in 698; he is believed to have Christianized the region in the seventh century. At that time, he is said to have slept in a hollow oak tree. The name of the place was mentioned for the first time in 1263 as Eeke. Eke is twinned with East Flanders' Eke, the Swiss village of Eiken, and the German Eicken-Bruche based on their similar toponymy.
