The village's name refers to Solre Castle, which was completely destroyed in 1473 by the troops of the Count of Saint-Pol. This medieval castle was subsequently captured, destroyed, or rebuilt several times, but has now completely disappeared. Stories and discoveries from the period of wars, sieges, and fires in the region are regularly discovered.
