The first synagogue in Luxembourg City was founded in 1823 on Rue du Petit-Séminaire . Samuel Hirsch served as the first Chief Rabbi in 1843. The synagogue left this location in 1891 and was replaced by Congrégation de Notre-Dame. A memorial for the deportation of Jews was installed at this location on June 17, 2018.
