Estate de Menop

“De Menop” is a country house, located on 2.5 hectares of land, intersected by a romantic Old Schipbeek that slowly meandered through the garden. The house stood strategically along this ancient little river that had been canalized since the late Middle Ages for the transport of cheese and butter to Germany and clay and wood to the Netherlands.

The estate “De Menop” has 2 large natural ponds and a forest full of majestic old oaks, beeches, and chestnut trees. Just outside the beautiful Overijssel village of Bathmen, there stood an old derelict villa in 1987. Magician Hans Kazan fell in love with this place so much that they did not want to see the obvious flaws of the decayed building and purchased the house. The ceilings between the various floors had completely collapsed or no longer existed. Windows, doors, and walls were rotten or missing, weeds grew inside. In short, it was not surprising that the villagers spoke of an abandoned haunted house. With the help of all-rounder Geert, the property was renovated in 8 years and later sold.

After that, the property fell into disrepair again until the current residents decided to rebuild the country house on the estate Den Menop. The existing dilapidated country house was demolished and in its place, a new country house with 4 levels was constructed. The country house has been stylishly rebuilt and features various beautiful details. The country house has been fully adapted to current standards, is basement-equipped, and includes a very spacious veranda.
