The Foppenplas is the part of the Foppenpolder that was put underwater in 1989 for water recreation, as part of the Reconstruction of the Middle Delfland area. The lake is located on three important Vlieten that have been dug for the discharge of excess water to the Maas/Nieuwe Waterweg. These are the Noordvliet, Middelvliet and Boonervliet. Along the Boonervliet (the southernmost vliet) lies the Bommeer. Along the Noordvliet is a cycle path (from Vlaardingervaart to Maasland. The Maaslandse bos is a new recreation area on the edge of the village of Maasland.
