Slotzicht
The beautiful white house you see now was built in 1808 against a much older house. It is said that the owner did this to make his single daughter more attractive on the marriage market! She did not marry, but she continued to purchase more land. She expanded the park around Slotzicht to 25 hectares and landscaped it in an ornamental style with, among other things, winding ponds, orchards, an orangery, greenhouses, and a deer park. Today, there is still a park of about 1 hectare surrounding the house. During the mobilization period from 1914-1918, Slotzicht was used as a military home. The photo from 1915 shows the soldiers who were stationed here. The house is called Slotzicht because it overlooked the meadows towards the Loenersloot castle, which is a few kilometers to the west. Now it can no longer be seen because of the Provincial road with trees alongside it.
Return via the bike tunnel and walk to the intersection with Raadhuislaan. The following sign hangs on the left corner.
