Giersbergen is a hamlet in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It has 28 inhabitants and is located on the north side of the National Park De Loonse en Drunense Duinen.
Giersbergen was founded in the middle of the thirteenth century. In a copy of a charter, to be found in the Royal Library in Brussels, the reader finds at the end the date of the year 1244: Datum anno Domini millesimo ducentesimo quadragesimo quarto. The charter describes how Henry of Herentals, bailiff of 's-Hertogenbosch, on the orders of Henry II, Duke of Brabant, transferred 150 acres of land to the Abbey of La Cambre in return for payment of an annual fee. The abbey was also granted the right to enjoy the common lands of the allodium Drunen.
