The Four Hundred east of Terhofstedepolder is a polder southeast of Retranchement, belonging to the Polders of Cadzand, Zuidzande, and Nieuwvliet.
It is known that this polder was re-diked in 1403, but it is likely much older in origin. There are indeed mentions of about eight possible "beginnings." Near the Noordmansweg and the Waterschip dike, there are also six "beginnings," totaling 80 hectares, which used to be part of the Oudeland Polder but were later added to the Four Hundred east of Terhofstedepolder.
