AzureAbove Amsterdam, in the province of North Holland, lies the water-rich region of West Friesland.
A fascinating cycling route takes you past a 'Golden Triangle' of three historic cities:
Enkhuizen, Hoorn and Medemblik.
The starting point of this cycle route (60 to 69 kilometers) is Enkhuizen, from where you cycle to Hoorn – either along the coast or through the green country. From Hoorn you cycle on to Medemblik, or you take the historic steam train (the bike is allowed). Finally, you cycle back to Enkhuizen, or you take the MS Friesland to do the route over water. You can cycle, track and sail the entire route in one day. But it is more fun to make it a multi-day tour with a stage of about 20 kilometers every day. Then you have plenty of time to discover the cities yourself.
