Baarle Ride

In 2020 everything is different. Day motorcycle rides are hardly possible. That’s why I’ve made a number of short rides of 2 to 3 hours that can be done as part-day rides. This is Tour Ride 1, 105km.

Baarle Nassau and Baarle Hertog are unique villages.

Baarle-Nassau, together with the Belgian municipality of Baarle-Hertog, forms the Kempen village of Baarle. The territory of both municipalities significantly overlaps, especially in the center of Baarle. There are 22 exclaves of Baarle-Hertog in Baarle-Nassau and eight exclaves of Baarle-Nassau in Baarle-Hertog. Some of these Dutch exclaves form enclaves within the Belgian enclaves in the Netherlands (contra-exclaves or counter enclaves, or enclaves of the second order, comparable to Nahwa and about 28 of the Cooch Beharen enclaves).

Baarle-Nassau had two stations, which were part of the Belgian line. One in the village itself and one near the hamlet of Baarle-Nassau Grens.

This ride heads towards Baarle-Nassau but does not go through the village. If desired, Baarle-Nassau can be included.

The motorcycle tour starts in Moerdijk and goes from there over dikes and then mainly on polder roads. It is a winding route through beautiful nature and hardly goes over provincial roads. It is a challenging and winding ride. Once the hospitality sector is open again, I have made a stop in Ulicoten at Eetcafe De Kluis.

On the way back, we pass the Chaamse creek and the beautiful nature around Galderen. Along the Mastbos, through the Liesbos, we return to Moerdijk. A nice short ride that can be done in 2.5 hours.
