This walking route is one of four walks specially set out for the 10th anniversary of the municipality of Vaals in 2021. The global Cittaslow quality mark is proof of quality for the way in which municipalities (with less than 50,000 inhabitants) deal with their living environment, landscape, regional products, hospitality, environment, infrastructure, cultural history and preservation of identity.

During the Cittaslow walks you will discover why the municipality of Vaals is Cittaslow! The Cittaslow Rond(je) Lemieësj takes you on a journey around Lemiers. After Vaals and Vijlen, Lemiers is the smallest of the three cores of the municipality of Vaals and many drive through it on their way to Vaals without stopping. But that doesn't mean there's less to see!

Even residents of the municipality of Vaals will discover a number of pearls while walking this route. Think, for example, of the St. Catherine's Chapel, the hidden Castle Jen Hoes in Oud-Lemiers, the bridge over the Hermansbeek and the characteristic Holset with its cozy terraces. But this route also passes the less hidden castle Vaalsbroek and the fruit orchards on the Eschberg. In short, plenty to discover! During the walk you will pass a number of Cittaslow ambassadors.

The Cittaslow ambassadors are companies or organizations that propagate the Cittaslow philosophy in the products they make and/or the services they offer.
