El Rupel es un corto afluente de 12 km del Escalda que se forma a la altura de Rumst por la confluencia de Nete y Dijle. El Rupel fluye a través de los municipios de Rumst, Willebroek, Boom, Bornem, Niel y Schelle, y desemboca opuesta a Rupelmonde en la frontera entre Hingene y Schelle en el Escalda por la derecha. Es navegable para barcos de hasta 2000 toneladas. El tráfico de mercancías fue de 8,8 millones de toneladas en 1992.
