El escultor Valeer Peirsman creó el grupo escultórico por encargo de Turismo Temse y del gobierno municipal. Tres de las cuatro estatuas están basadas en auténticos caldereros: den Bruine (Alfons Gosselin), a la extrema izquierda; de Mekker (Désiré Aelbrecht), segundo por la izquierda; y de Schele Wringer (Frans Vervynckt), a la extrema derecha. El cuarto calderero, segundo por la derecha, simboliza a todos los caldereros. El monumento ofrece espacio para que los turistas se fotografíen en esta compañía. El grupo escultórico fue oficialmente inaugurado el 25 de mayo de 1991.
