Zichem es, por supuesto, muy conocido como el pueblo donde 'De Witte' llevó a cabo sus travesuras. Se puede visitar la casa natal de Ernest Claes, el escritor de, entre otras obras, De Witte de Zichem.
Entre los otros lugares de interés de esta Oranjestad se encuentra la hermosa iglesia de Sint-Eustachius en estilo Demergótico. Esta magnífica iglesia posee probablemente la ventana de vidrio más antigua de Bélgica (1387).
A las orillas del Demer se puede descubrir un monumento completamente diferente: la Maagdentoren. Esta única torre redonda, construida con la típica arenisca de hierro rojo de la región, data del siglo XIV. Esta torre sirvió como torre residencial y de defensa para los señores de Zichem.
