Wannegem es una aldea en la provincia belga de Flandes Oriental. Junto con Lede forma Wannegem-Lede, una submunicipalidad de Kruisem. Wannegem era a principios del siglo XIX un municipio independiente y forma la parte occidental de la submunicipalidad. El lugar ya fue mencionado en los siglos XII y XIII. El antiguo nombre tiene los sufijos -inga y -heem, y significa literalmente lugar de residencia de los hombres de Wanhand. El lugar dependía administrativamente de la kasselrij de Oudenaarde. En el ámbito eclesiástico, Wannegem pertenecía a la diócesis de Tournai y desde 1559 a la diócesis de Gante, creada entonces.
