Esta modesta casa de trabajadores del siglo XIX, en definitiva banal con sus fachadas de ladrillo y su tejado de tejas, fue el lugar de residencia de Vincent Van Gogh desde agosto de 1879 hasta octubre de 1880. Amenazada debido a su mal estado, la vivienda, también conocida como la casa del Marais, fue salvada en los años 70 antes de ser rehabilitada de 2005 a 2007 para albergar el museo Van Gogh. Allí se puede admirar, entre otras obras, "Los Trabalhadores" (1880), un dibujo a carboncillo realizado en Cuesmes por el artista que realmente se reveló como tal durante su estancia en el Borinage.
Clasificada como monumento el 24 de diciembre de 1958.
