En este lugar se puso en funcionamiento una nueva estación Mortsel-Oude-God en 1932. Sin embargo, debido a las fuertes protestas de los viajeros en tren y comerciantes de la cercana Statielei, se construyó la estación Mortsel-Oude-God en 1936 a lo largo de la línea de tren 25. El nombre de la estación en la línea 27 se cambió a Mortsel-Liersesteenweg. Aunque la estación se cerró en 1939, ha estado en funcionamiento regularmente durante desvíos de trenes por trabajos en la vía.
