El Sint-Janscollege en Meldert cerca de Hoegaarden es una escuela católica de Educación Secundaria General. La congregación católica de los Capellanes del Trabajo, fundada en 1894 en Seraing, inició este colegio en 1957. Fue una continuación del "Colegio Latino", una escuela apostólica bilingüe para la educación secundaria en Ohain cerca de Bruselas. Hasta 1965, la escuela de Meldert era bilingüe. Meldert está muy cerca de la frontera lingüística y los francófonos asistían a las clases en aulas en Sluizen, un municipio vecino 'al otro lado de la frontera'.
