La Abadía de Sint-Michiels era una abadía de los norbertinos en Amberes, fundada por el Santo Norberto en 1124 a orillas del Escalda. En 1831, durante la Revolución Belga, la abadía fue completamente destruida, tras haber sido ya parcialmente demolida durante la ocupación francesa. En el siglo VII, alrededor del 652, el santo Amandus había estado en Amberes y había permanecido aquí algunos años. Allí había predicado el cristianismo en un lugar llamado Chanelaus o Caloes, una isla o meseta al sur del castillo.
